342 Bikes for Schools in URR, CRR & NBR

Jole Rider Foundation UK, in collaboration with the board of the foundation in The Gambia, on Thursday 2 August, distributed 342 bicycles to four schools in URR, CRR and NBR at a ceremony held in Gunjur, West Coast Region

The beneficiary schools were Bajakunda Basic Cycle, Kaur Upper Basic, Albreda Upper Basic and St Michael’s Basic Cycle of Njongon.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Jole Rider Director of Programmes, Fabakary Boyo Touray, highlighted the importance of the donation, saying that since April 2006 to April 2012, Jole Rider distributed over 10,000 bicycles to needy students during the first phase across the country.

This, he noted, is geared towards supporting government in the attainment of quality education for all.

The Director of Learning and Development Project of Jole Rider, Saidu Gbla, expressed delight for the success registered while thanking the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the stakeholders and parents for their support

The chief of Kombo South, Mustapha Touray, commended the government for taking education to the door steps of Gambians.

Chief Touray urged school administrators to give the bicycles to the needy students, so as to enable them report at school on time.
