Alleged Rapist Remanded in Prison Custody

Omar Kamara,  a 30 -year -old young man and a native of Basse,   was recently  remanded at the Janjanbureh prison for allegedly raping an underaged  girl.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused person, Omar Kamara, on or about the 25th  June 2012, at Alunhare village, in the Fuladu East District, in provincial Upper River Region                                            (URR) The  Gambia, unlawfully had a carnal knowledge  of  a 14 -year- old girl (name withheld)   thereby committed an offence.
When the case was mentioned  at the Basse Magistrates’ Court on Sunday ,12th August, 2012, before Magistrate Jabang, he  transferred the case to  the Basse High Court in view of the fact that  his court  lacks  jurisdiction.
