After their two-nil lost to Gamtel FC in their last fixture, Hawks suffered another two nil defeat in the hands of Real De Banjul in the week six fixture of The Gambia Football Association (GFA) league one championship on Tuesday at the KG5 football field in Banjul.
The newly promoted side, Hawks FC is rooted at the bottom of the table, bagging only three points in their six league games.
Hawks came under pressure by Real especially in the defensive area. They conceded their first goal due to lack of concentration at the defence as unmarked Modou Njie-Sarr headed in a fantastic goal from Musa Balla Sowe’s corner kick in the 28 minutes of the game.
Real de Banjul dominated the first half of the game in terms of ball possession and created numerous goal opportunities, but could only manage to score one.
The underperformed team Hawks were two nil down just eight minutes into the second half of the game courtesy of Real’s Abdoulie Sanneh.
Despite introducing fresh legs in the second half of the game by the head coach Sang Ndong to change the mood of the game, none of his substitutes could make difference in the remaining time of the game for Hawks.
Sang Ndong in a post-match interview with journalists, said he is very disappointed. “I think we got everything wrong. We are conceding goals and are not scoring. This is very bad for us.”
Sang Ndong’s opponent of the day was Alagie Sarr, the head coach of Real De Banjul expressed satisfaction with the performance of his team after collecting the three points.
