Assembly To Pay Last Respect to Hon Bekai Camara

Members of the National Assembly will this morning pay their last respect to departed Hon. Bekai Camara, the National Assembly member for Wuli East constituency.
The service will be held at the National Assembly building in Banjul at 9: am, according to official sources.  
Hon. Bekai Camara died Saturday at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital in Banjul. The cause of his death is unclear.
A ruling-APRC parliamentarian, Hon Camara joined the National Assembly in 2007 after a four year service at The Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS).   He began his journalism career in 1988 at The Gambia Weekly as a freelance journalist. In 1990, he moved to Radio Gambia as announcer. After four years, he was employed as programme assistant, Environment Education and Communication, National Environment Agency before going back to GRTS in 2003 as assistant producer, a position he held until his election into officer as a parliamentarian.
Late Bekai was the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Select Committee on the environmental and the chairman of the Commission on Policy and Legislation, West African Network of Parliaments on Environment Climate Change.
He attended St George’s  St George’s Secondary Technical School, attained a diploma in Gender and Development at MDI and he is undergoing a Post Graduate Diploma in Population and Development at the University of The Gambia. Hon. Camara is married.
