BAC Hands Over Toilet Facility to Wellingara Market

Brikama Area Council, as part of their drive to promote the welfare of tax payers,  Monday  April 30th  2012,  handed over a newly- constructed toilet facility worth over D240,715  for Wellingara Market in Kombo North District of the West Coast Region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Modou Jonga, spokesperson of Brikama Area Council, said the completion of the toilet facility manifested the commitment to respond to the needs of the community.

Mr. Jonga urged the Local Market Committee to make good use of the facility and called on the public to pay their dues to the council in order to enhance more development.

In handing over the keys of the toilets to the Ward Councilor for onward transmission to the Local Market Committee, Mr. Paul Alex Mendy called on the Committee to ensure that the toilets are sustained as the resources used are that of the public. ‘’ This facility is a public property and it is the duty of all to protect,’’ he said

In receiving the keys, Mrs. Mariama Bah-Saine, Banjulinding Ward Councilor, expressed happiness over the completion of the toilet facility and hailed the Government for creating the enabling environment for development.

Mrs. Bah-Saine urged that keeping the toilets hygiene should be a collective task.

Mr. BunjaringJadama, Market Manager, Brikama Area Council, used the opportunity to call on market vendors to pay their daily market dues regularly to enable the council to provide basic services and amenities to community.

In delivering the vote of thanks, Mrs. JarraKanteh, Deputy Chairperson of Wellingara Market Local Committee, expressed her delight over the completion of the facility and spoke of the resolve of her committee to ensure the sustainability of the toilets.
