Badinyaa, a local based youth group in Brikama last Saturday conducted a day-long clean up exercise at Brikama health center.
Alieu Darboe, national coordinator of the group described the exercise as a genuine one, recounting that the exercise is the third of its kind his organisation has rendered to the health center.
“The staff of the health center cannot do it all. They need the support of the community and that is why we have decided to lend a hand,” he said, promising that his organisation would soon replicate such an exercise elsewhere needed.
Ndey Ceesay, nurse-in-charge of the Brikama health center commended Badinyaa for a job well done.
She added that no amount of commendation could pay Badinyaa but God, the almighty would.
“I am newly transferred to the health center and what I did first was to have a meeting with the cleaners and the issue of hygiene featured prominently during our discussions. So you could see how happy I am to have Badinyaa cleaning the center free of charge,” she said.
