Banjul Sport Committee VP/Chairman excited over Crowning of Miami FCMonday, December 06, 2010 The Vice President of the Banjul Sport Committee Ndongo Camara has expressed delight over the crowning of Miami FC as champions of the Banjul Nawettan league final describing it the best final ever played in Banjul. According to him, Miami has the advantage of wining the final for having experienced players and coach. Noting that although Babylon played hard and dominated the game, but due to lack of experience as first timers made them lost. Citing series of the new developments the league witnessed this year, Ndongo said the new teams, including Babylon FC and Late Ebou Jammeh FC, who are newly elevated, have performed well in the tournament, created problems for the big teams. Ndongo also recognized the success of teams like Digi Dambi who have won most of the league trophies and Miami FC, the champions of this year’s knock-out trophy, last year’s Super Cup and most recently the league of this year. However, Ndongo also outlined some of the problems they face during the Nawettan, pointing-out the poor condition of the football pitch coupled with indiscipline of some teams resulting in the banning of teams like Green house FC who are banned for 10 years and Ajax FC who were initially banned for 10 years but reduced to three years after an appeal by the elders of Banjul. He added that the construction works on-going at KG5 football field could complete as initially planned because of the rains. Also speaking, the chairman of the Banjul Sports Committee Ebou Faye, expressed similar sentiments. He opined that the reason why Babylon lost to Miami was that they were having the concept of winning the game through penalty shoot-outs as a result of their previous games. Author: Abubacarr Sillah |
