Bansang SSS Win Region 5, 6 Inter-School Athletics Contest

Bansang Senior Secondary School in the central river region of The Gambia won the inter-school athletics competition that was organised by region 5 and 6 at Nassir Hamadiya Senior Secondary School in Basse, Upper River Region last Saturday.
According to the organisers of the two regions, the competition was done to select the best athletes in the two regions to participate in the upcoming inter-regional school athletics competition during the country’s Independence Day celebration on February 18.
Seven senior schools have participated in the competition out of 16 senior schools.  The rest failed to participate due to lack of funds.
Bansang Senior Secondary School won 31 events out of 43 events, and the remaining events were won by the other schools.
Speaking to reporters after the competition, Ismaila Ceesay, principal of Bansang Senior School said through motivation they were able to win 31 events.
He noted that a sport is very crucial, saying learning does not stop only in the class room.
“I’m very happy with the performance of my school.  I will advice the young students to keep up the momentum,” he said. 
The principal of the host school Nassir Senior School, Mamadi Ceesay said: “we hosted the event peacefully without any problem as it happened last year at Armitage,” he said.
The event was well attended.
