Basse, Wellingara Sign Twinning

The Youth Association of Basse (YAB,) in collaboration with Youth of Wellingara on Saturday 24th September 2011 held a   twinning ceremony in the village of Wellingara, Senegal.
The objective of the twinning is to foster understanding and strengthen the bilateral relationship between the nations at large, as stated in the ECOWAS protocol.
The duty governor of Upper River Region, Momodou S. Jallow led the delegation.
Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the Mayor of Wellingara, Mr. Mohammed Maiga deputy mayor described the twinning as significant.
He noted that it will go a long way in bringing mutual rapport between the two communities and a step towards achieving integration and developments among the two countries.
Dawda Mbye Chief of Wellingara said the initiative is timely, noting that the two countries are the same. He further called on the youths to work hard for the betterment of the association.   
 Abdul Assis Mbenga youth chairman of Wellingara commended the youth of Basse for their bowl initiative, noting that the only way to develop Africa is to unite and promote existing peace.
 He added that progress and development of Senegambia lies on the hands of its youths, the initiative will move from strength to strengthen, and urge the Youths to keep up the momentum for the smooth runs of day to day affairs of Senegambia as well as Africa.
Speaking on behalf of the regional governor, the deputy governor Momodou S .Jallow, expressed delight over the twinning ceremony.  
He called on the Youth to see each other as one family and work towards achieving the objectives of the association.
Fabakary Sanneh of the Ministry of Youth and Sports urged the youths to give deaf ear to detractors and concentrate on what they are doing.
