Barrow Kunda based organisation organisation, BEAKANYANG in Wuli West District will Friday June 1st organise a day long conference on youth participation in politics.

The even which will be held at the Tango conference hall in Kanifing, is said to be the first of its kind in the country.

In a brief chat with the Youth Platform, Nfamara Jawneh, Secretary-General of the organisation, said BEAKANYANG, which in Mandinka means ‘’ we all are equal’’ is a registered youth-led development advocacy and non-political community based organization in the country.

‘The conference will attract various stakeholders including young politicians, youth leaders, representatives of political parties, National Youth Organizations and the Independent Electoral Commission to promote and inspire young people to actively participate in the country’s democratisation process,’’ he said

The conference, according to him, commences from 9am to 4pm and it seeks to promote more collaboration among young politicians as well as young people and their role in participating in the development of the nation.

‘I am urging all youth groups that are invited to honor the invitation and take part in this important conference,” Mr Jawneh, who doubles as deputy editor-in-chief of The Point has said.

According to him, no country can develop without the participation of the young people, whom he described as the future leaders and as such their participation and empowerment is very crucial in the growth of the country and their respective communities.
