Brikama Utd Lost First Encounter![]() Monday, February 20, 2012 Brikama United, the 2011 Gambia Football Association league one champions lost one-nil home to Senegalese side, US Ouakam in the first leg of the African club championship at Box Bar mini stadium on Saturday. A lone goal from Ngague Jallow of US Ouakam in the 66th minute following a pass from teammate Abasse Seck’s was enough to separate the two sides. Though they played a good game, Brikama United failed to utilise their goal scoring opportunities and were compelled to suffer the pinch of the Senegalese side in the first leg awaiting the second to be played in Dakar. Thus they were not at their best in the game but the Senegalese boys were able to make a way out by netting an away goal, which will make it difficult for the Gambians to break through to the next stage. Foday Trawally could have leveled the scores for Brikama United in 71 minute of the game but his shot edged pass US Ouakam goal post in the penalty area. Ensa Sambou and his Brikama United have to struggle hard in the return leg to be played in Senegal in order to be in the next round of the championship. This would be a very difficult task for the head coach and his team. Author: Mandu Sanneh |
