Brikama Utd Road to CAF Championship Launched

The minister of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly matters, Lamin Kaba Bajo on behalf of the  ministry of Youth and Sports launched Brikama United’s road to CAF championship on Saturday at the Box Bar mini stadium in Brikama.
  In his launching statement, Mr. Bajo said Brikama United FC achieved a lot in The Gambian football, noting that nowadays football is crucial in the development of the country.
Brikama United FC won the 2011 Gambia Football Association (GFA) first division league, for the first time a team from the West Coast region to win such championship. Brikama United FC    will represent the country in the African club championship.
 Minister Bajo advised the team to keep up the momentum. “You can keep the impetus you doing. I will advise you to concentrate on the job.”  
Brikama United FC will face the Senegalese league champions Ouakam FC in the first leg of the competition. The game will be played at the Box Bar mini stadium on February 18, 2012.
Among the speakers at the gathering was the president of Brikama Youth and Sports Committee, Basiru Bajo.
 “We faced so many challenges for us to be league champions but thank God we have achieved our goals. This was what we were looking for - to represent the country at international competitions.”
Basiru added that the team will try their best even though it is their first time to participate in the competition.
“We have confident in the boys; that they can do it,” he said, calling on every individual in the country to rely behind the team.
