Former Minister Janneh to Put up Defence Against Treason![]() ex-Minister Janneh Wednesday, December 21, 2011 Dr Amadou Scattred Janneh, former communication minister will on Monday 19 December, 2011 enter defense on charges of conspiracy, treason and sedition. The development followed announcement by the Deputy Director of Public Prosecution, Abdulahhi Mikilive that the state is satisfied with volume of evidence against the accused persons. “The prosecution wish to close its case against the accused persons,” said the DPP. 14 witnesses have testified against the accused persons including police officers, detectives and civilians. The defense counsel, Lamin S Camara on the other hand said, the defense is ready to enter their defense come Monday 12. Arrested in June 2011, Dr Janneh was put on trial for conspiracy, sedition and treason at the High Court in Banjul, while Michel C. Ucheh Thomas, a Nigerian, and two Gambian youth, Modou Keita and Ebrima Jallow are only facing sedition charges. Dr Janneh is accused of printing and distributing T-Shirts bearing the inscription: ‘Coalition for Change The Gambia, End Dictatorship Now.’ with intend to overthrow the government.
