Gambia Part Company with Paul Put

Reliable sources Informed The Daily News Sports that the Ministry of Youth andSport in consultation with Gambia Football Association has terminated the services of Belgian tactician Coach Paul Put and goalkeeper trainer Franco Cresitini.  
The move according to sources came in the wake of Coach Paul Put’s failure to qualify the national team to the African Cup of Nations which is due in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea 2012, Paul Put took over the Gambia senior national team in 2008 with the hope of qualifying the team for the first time in the history of Gambian Football.
According to sources, Paul also failed to fulfill another promise in which he was contracted to train the local players and the local coaches in the Gambia, in the ministry’s quest of developing Gambian football.
Brief Recap of the Past
Paul was given are resounding applause by Gambians in his first year in charged after his famous 1-1 drew with the Taranga Lions of Senegal in Dakar in the Nations Cup qualifies, which led to the renewal of his contract in 2009, after coming very close of making it to the 2008 nations Cup.
But the love started fading away after he and his team failed to progress in a group that Gambians term as the easiest group the senior team have ever found themselves.
The Gambia were drawn against Mauritania, Namibia, and Burkina Faso but things started going rough early after Mauritania withdrew from the qualifiers.
Things started well for Paul Put and his team after winning their first game at home 3-1 against Namibia, but to be only humiliated by the same score line in Burkina Faso and then losing in Namibia 1-0 before drawing 1-1 with Burkina in Banjul.
And after the Game in Banjul against Burkina Faso for the first time the Belgian tactician refused to talk to the Gambian media practitioners as he walked away immediately after the final whistle.
