The 2010 National Inter-department Sport Association (NISA) adjourned female final was finally played last Friday in which the Immigration department emerged the champions of the 2010 NISA female final, defeating Gamtel/Gamcel female team by a lone goal.
The final, which marked the opening of the 2011 NISA tournament, was well contested between the two departments as both teams played well.
Immigration with very young girls did not rest to fine the goal post as Fatou Jarjue finally broke and enter the defensive area of Gamtel/Gamcel to give her side the winning goal in the last five minutes to play.
The female final was followed by the tournament proper between Immigration, last year’s defending champions against Kombo Beach Hotel. Immigration opened a fresh score sheet with three points after defeating Kombo Beach by 1-0 through James Sambou in the 25 minutes of the first half.
Immigration went home with a trophy and a cash prize of D5, 000 while the runner up Gamtel /Gamcel received D3, 000.
“Immigration does not take anything light and vowed to defend the title again. My team is recently from Senegal where they also emerged as winners”, said the Immigration head coach, Buba Jatta in a post match interview.
Ebrima Y B Jatta coach for Kombo Beach Hotel also said that his team will continue to fight to the end, stating that this is just the beginning. He said that Immigration is a team that everybody knows Kombo Beach really did well in last year’s NISA.
“Despite losing we are going to rectify our mistakes and come back to the battle for the trophy”, coach Jatta optimistically said.
