The forgery case against two immigration officers has been adjourned till April 13, but with a strong-worded statement by Magistrate Alagbe ordering the defense counsel and prosecution to put their house in order.
Messrs Bamba B. Sanneh and Momodou Kally Jallow are standing trial at Banjul Magistrates’ Court for conspiracy to commit felony, making false documents without authority and forgery.
They are alleged to have conspired and made false employment letters and pay slips for eight civilians, but they denied wrongdoing.
Magistrate Alagbe’s order came during proceedings on Wednesday following a debate between the defense and prosecution over the acceptability of a document the prosecution sought to tender. The details of the document are unclear to The Daily News.
Meanwhile, Mr Sarko Drammeh, the former Director General of Immigration who testified as state witness no.1 said he had signed a document that was brought to him by the accused person when he was the DG.
When the prosecution sought to tender the documents the defense counsel objected, saying that the certificate was a photocopy.
