Kaira Nyining Federation Holds Trade Fair Competition

Kaira Nyining Federation on Saturday March 5, 2011 organised an annual Junior Achievement (JA) company of the year competition at Kuloro Skills Training Centre.
The Junior Achievement programme seeks to inform and encourage the youth population to engage in worthy complimentary project system and commerce to advance the value of their living.
JA used the ground to hone the knowhow of adolescents in financial realization in order to bring the realities of the globe to the youth population to open their minds and develop their potentials.
Kaira Nyining (searching for peace in Mandinka) implemented the scheme for the school dropout youths in the Kombo East district of the West Coast Region.
The company of the year contest is an annual competition that assists young consumerist companies and individuals to showcase their products through an exhibition of their goods to independent judges and the community.
In his welcoming remarks, the Alkalo of Kuloro Tunjinaa, Dembo Touray, expressed his delight about the event, noting that creating a platform for young people to thrash out issues affecting their lives and search for clues to problems and possible ways out to wake up to the numerous challenges.
He tasked the youths to remain integrated and register a track record in the best way for themselves.
The board chair of Kaira Nyining Federation, Ebrima Badjie, described the turnout of youths at the occasion as gratifying and very important.
He also commended the company for their demonstration and participation in the trade fair.
Badjie said: “unity is everything and that as youth you must come together and maintain each other.”
Vice chairman Brikama Area Council (BAC) Lamin Haja Bojang, who also echoed similar remarks, hailed the youths for giving him the opportunity to make his voice heard at the event.
Mr. Bojang said another practical method to enhance growth in society is by bringing youths together to exchange their diverse experiences.
He observed that the enviable turnout of youths is a clear manifestation of their devotion to development.
Vice chairman Bojang applauded Child Fund the Gambia for sustaining the youths for the advancement of their work.
“I am urging you to continue the solidarity and I can assure you that The Child Fund is always prepared to support you.”
Laawol Welli Junior Achievement emerged winners of the best company, followed by Hernangeh Company and Jamorai Company came out third.
Youth Agency coordinator Child-Fund the Gambia, Mustapha Kebbeh tasked the youths of Kaira Nyining to be focused and prepared to take up challenges as future administrators and identify the hope of the people in their areas. He said Child Fund the Gambia will work in partnership with the youth groups, but quick to note that the young people should take the lead by themselves as agents of change. “I am ready to promote the welfare of the young people as the Youth Agency coordinator, but we should all be focused and ready to work as a family in order to develop and acquire skills.”
Mr. Kebbeh commended the youths of Kaira Nyining for coming up with the laudable initiative, adding that this will indeed boost their morals in realization of their dreams as young enterprising entrepreneurs.
“I am also delighted with the management of the Federation for creating an enabling environment for the young people in the area and also mapping out some difficulties that the youths of Eastern Kombo are encountering.”
The youth coordinator West Coast Region, Mohammed Lamin Jawla urged the young people of Kombo East to be united, noting that the Junior Achievement will play an integral part towards the advancement of the youths. Jawla stated that empowering young people is of paramount importance and concern to the government and the Child Fund the Gambia in particular as they have been working towards the development of the young people in the country. He challenged young people to engage and explore into meaningful ventures and avoid involving in activities that would land them into trouble, emphasizing that the government has created a lot of avenues to empower the youths in a bid to eradicating poverty among youths as potential leaders in their respective communities.
The best Chief Executive Officer (CEO) award went to Omar Bah of Hernangeh, while Laawol Welli grabbed the Best Advertising Team honor.
The most precious creation prize was won by Hernangeh Company. Laawol Welli received an award for being the most monetarily strong company.
The ceremony was graced by officials from other sister federations, youth representatives, officials of Brikama Area Council (BAC), and other important dignitaries across the region.
The Child and Youth Officer of the Federation Lamin Mokendeh Darboe moderated the ceremony.
