KCA Holds 2nd Year Anniversary

The Kabafita Youth and Children Community Association on Saturday October 15, 2011 held their two year anniversary at the Canaan Multipurpose Youth Center in Brikama Daruhairu with the theme ‘’BE THE POSITIVE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE.’’
Alieu Darboe the moderator of the ceremony who also doubles as the head of the Youth Platform told the gathering that the association is delight to observe the anniversary.
“Indeed we have a cause to celebrate as the association has been engaging into many meaningful ventures for the past year,” he said.
Darboe who was one of the brains for the success of the association challenged the membership more especially the young ones to be determine and focus for the development of the association.
‘’We the older ones will soon relinquish powers as we at the Kabafita Community Association believes in empowering the young ones.’’
Ebrima Bojang the chairperson in his welcoming statement thanked the membership for the support and cooperation given to the association for the past two years.
‘’ I am indeed blissful today to stand in front of this gathering as we again observed our second year anniversary.’’
Bojang took the opportunity to thank all those who contributed in one way or the other for the success of the association whiles extending his profound gratitude to the Saamasang Federation and Child-Fund The Gambia and other partners for their support.
Adama Jassey who delivered the annual report on behalf of the scribe Jalimamudu Kuyateh said the association has embarked on many activities for the past one year including training of members on skills, leadership, public approach confident, fund raising, staging of an inter clan nawettan competition on football and baseball and recently the summer school class for grades 7, 8 and 9.
She also informed the gathering that some of their future plans are to reach out to the communities empowered the young and women on some of the things affecting their lives as well as to participate in the community empowerment projects.
She further stated that since the formation of the association, they have also partner with all the CA’s under the Saamasang Federation and other notable youth groups for the empowerment of the young people within Kabafita and beyond.
The association’s children wing adviser Mr. Lamin Camara who also doubles as the Vice-Principal at Kinderdorff Bottrop Senior Secondary School urged the members to continue with their good work rendering for the community.
Amadou Tambedou Child and Youth Officer Saamasang Federation lauded the efforts of the association calling on them to redouble their efforts as they are agents of change.
‘’You are really doing fine and I will like to urge you people to work as a family and unite as one,’’ he told them.
The Guest Speaker Lamin Saidyba who is also the director of Women and Children Care (WACC).
He urged the members to follow the theme wisely and centered their coming approach towards it. Saying that he whom much is given, much is expected.
