Kabafita Children and Youth Association will October 15, 2011 observe their second year anniversary at the Canaan Multipurpose Youth Center at Brikama Daruhairu with the theme ‘’BE A POSITIVE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE.’’
The Chairperson of the Association Ebrima Bojang in an interview with the Youth Platform said the purpose of the anniversary is to reflect on the progress and shortfalls of the association for the past two years under review. He said for any association to be successful, there must a hindrance and obstacles; saying that our reason to observe the anniversary is to know from where we will continue as volunteers in our communities.
According to him the theme is vital and timely as youth body. We need to ask ourselves what we can do for our communities but not what our community can do for us. ‘’As the saying goes, whom much is given, much is expected from.’’
As agents of change, we must strive hard to work for the development of our communities, as well as our country in particular, he told the Youth Platform.
The Scribe, Jali Mamudou Kuyateh noted that the anniversary is indeed timely as it will again help the members and the general public to interact and share ideas towards the development of the young people who are the prospect leaders. He said the association has done a lot for the community and will still continue to offer services that are of importance to the public.
‘’We have recently concluded summer classes school for both our members and others as well as also took part in community development initiatives within the communities under the association.’’ He said.
The anniversary will commence at 9 am with a match pass to the venue where various speakers will present topics relating to the theme and youth toil.     
Bakary Sanneh the Child Focal Officer also stated that the anniversary will indeed boost the morale of the members more specially the children who are the future of the association. He said it is time for those critics to note that youth toil is another system of development for any nation, noting that it will be prudent for the other young people to join the various youth bodies in their localities. ‘’Am convince that our anniversary will proof many critics wrong.” He noted.  
The anniversary will also serve as an avenue for us to share our experience with other young people who will be gracing the occasion as well as learn from each other as colleagues.
