Friday, June 29, 2012
Speaking at the ceremony, Jariga E. Gaye, National President of NAPSA, said the competition was meant to promote education and culture in schools, saying that the theme of the competition which is ‘’ Reflecting On Our Culture’’ was indeed worthy as there could be no meaningful development in the absence of culture.
He told the participating schools to be focused and committed in the promotion of education, as NAPSA would always endeavor to work in partnership with schools across the country.
“We will also in the future organise similar one in other parts of the country in order to boost the educational standard of students,” he said.
Abdoulie Bah, Chairperson of NAPSA, West Coast Region, urged the participating schools to be attentive.
The competition, he added, was another way of learning, noting that if cultures were recognised by students, the community would also be properly managed and protected. The country would never move forward without culture. “This event is yet another milestone achievement in the history of NAPSA,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Mindaw scored 49.5 points, Brikama Upper Basic that came out second, 44.5, Methodist 40.5, Presentation Upper Basic, 39.5 whiles Jamisa scored 32 points.
A certificate of participation and prizes were awarded to all the schools.
