Minister Sonko Relieved, Appointed AmbassadorFriday, February 10, 2012 A week after he bounced back, Mr Ousman Sonko yesterday was relieved of his portfolio as minister of Interior. News aired over Gambia’s state-owned broadcaster, GRTS, yesterday revealed that he has been re-deployed as Gambia’s ambassador to Spain. Mr Sonko, who was among the first four ministers to be named in president Jammeh’s new cabinet replaces Mr Kebba Touray, the newly appointed trade minister. Meanwhile, three more people have joined president Jammeh’s cabinet, which has been dissolved after Jammeh took oath of office following his re-election. Fatou Lamin Faye has bounced back as minister of Basic and Secondary Education and Teneng Mba Jaiteh reclaimed her post as deputy minister of Petroleum. Fatou Gaye, 50s, was appointed minister of Forestry and Environment, a position held by Mr Jatto Sillah. She was the principal climate change officer at the said ministry. | Related Topics |
