Misera Torben School Gets Over .5M Worth of Items

Desafio Solidario a philanthropic organization based in Spain, through Anda AK Africka Association  another NGO in Spain has donated items worthy over half a million dalasi to Misera Torben Lower Basic School in the Niamina East district of Central River Region (CRR).

The team who raised school items and mosquito nets for the under-fives and pregnant women in the village channeled the items through ActionAid International Gambia.; a  total of 60 mosquito nets were distributed from the 16-18 August 2014.

Speaking to this reporter the Head of Desafio Solidario Mr  Guiuermo Albert, who was acompanied with another 14 members of the organization said they are pleased to drive all the way from Spain to the village of Misera Torben to donate the items. We are an adventurous organization and that is why we choose to drive rather than fly.

We raised the item ranging from footballs, pen, color pen and many other school items through concert. We also raised the three vehicles and we are donating all the school items to the school and the three vehicles will be sold and the money will be donated to the school.

Anda AK Afrika, is constructing a six classroom block for the community of Misera Torben as there is no permanent school structure. The village elders express their delight for having such  visitors and wish them well.

The Manager Local Rights Manager ActionAid International Bakary Fadera was happy that “ we have the group at the aid to the community will go a long way to complement government efforts and those of his agency.

Madi Ceesay , ActionAid Kanifing office deputized for the Executive director; and told the visitors that the director was going to come himself but due to other commitment he could not and that is why he delegated  Madi Ceesay . Through the Executive director Ceesay thanked the visitors and encourages them to do more.
