Norwegian Tourist Charged with Child Sex Abuse

A 45-year-old Norwegian national Svien Age Sandaker was Friday arraigned at Bundung Magistrates’ Court for sexually abusing six unnamed young Gambian boys.
The case could however not proceed because the Norwegian does ‘not understand English very well’ and the court did not have an interpreter in Norwegian or Swedish - the languages the accused ‘speaks very well’.
Mr Sandaker was arrested Wednesday December 22 at his residence in Brufut after Norwegian authorities alerted Gambian authorities that the suspect had been convicted in Norway for child abuse and could be doing the same here in The Gambia. 
Six young boys between the ages of 3 to 10 were found in his residence in Brufut. He has providing feeding and clothing to the children, according to the assistant police spokesperson, ASP Mballow.   
Mr Sandaker is accordingly charged with three counts; sexual abuse children, child pornography and sexual exploitation of six children contrary to the country Tourism Offence Act of 2003.
He is remanded until the case resumes.
