Ocean Bay Hotel’s Suspended Managers Fate Still Hanging in the Balance

Monday, February 20, 2012
Mr Juergen Odenwald, general manager of Ocean Bay Hotel in Cape Point, Bakau has dismissed claims that the nine suspended managers were finally sacked and replaced.
“Its true that I got some people who are from Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC),  he clarified to The Daily News on Friday. “They are not staff of Ocean Bay. They are temporally here to assist me.”
At least nine of the five star hotel’s managers, including Mr Alfusainey Camara, deputy general manager have been under suspension since October 6 of last year.
The rest are: Mr Tijan Jobe, purchasing manager; Mr Mamud, food and beverage manager; Mr Famara Gassama, room division manager; Mr Ebrima Jarju housekeeping manager; Mr Frank chief engineer; and Mr Seedy Trawally, front office manager.
Four months on, the circumstances surrounding their suspension are still shrouded in mystery amid claims that investigations are still ongoing.
“Those managers are still not finally sacked, but suspended,” says Mr Juergen. “Their issue is still being investigated.”
Meanwhile, Social Security, the owners of the hotel had declined to comment on the issue.
