Monitoring a live television program covering the swearing ceremony of President Adama Barrow over Tfm in Senegal, Daily News can report that In a very colorful ceremony at the Gambian embassy in Dakar Senegal today H.E president Adama Barrow has called on the Gambia Armed Forces to shift loyalty to him as the Commander and Chief of the Gambia Armed Forces; and orders all the soldiers to be loyal to the state and the people of the Gambia and to respect the constitution of the land.
He also called on the EOWAS and the AU to step in and enforced the will of the Gambians as decided on December 1st 2016.
The ECOWAS soldiers are all over the boarders of the Gambia and Senegal only waiting for a legitimate president to invite the soldiers to intervene in the political impasse.
President Adama Barrow took the oath of office republic of the Gambia at the Gambian Embassy in Dakar Senegal today Thursday 19 January 2017.
Barrow is the third president of Gambia after he defeated former president Yahya Jammeh who refuses to accept the results of the December 1, 2016 elections.
Lawyer Sheriff Marie Tambendu a High Court judge and the president of the Gambia Bar Association led H.E President Adama Barrow, president and head of state of Gambia in the oath.
The president took oath in the presence of the Senegalese Prime minister and several other Senegalese government officials and other dignitaries of international organizations. Many other governments in the region were also represented.
Addressing the crowd, H.E President Barrow told his audience that who are Gambians and friends of the Gambia that the day is special and that no one will forget about it. This he said is the first time Gambia has change government after independence. He urged all to put aside their political differences and work for the development of our dear country.
H.E president Barrow commended the ECOWAS mediation team under the able leadership of President Muhamed Buhari of Nigeria. He also thanked the people and government of Senegal who he described as good friends of the Gambia.
He said he was sworn in Senegal due to the present political circumstances back home.
“I hear-by appeal to the AU, and Ecowas to affect the will of the people” Barrow. He told his audience that there is no loser in this election that brought him in power this is a change that will bring development and he urged the Armed forces to remain loyal to him and the state as the Commander in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
