Despite been already relegated to the second tier of Gambian football, Wallidan did not take it lightly as they come all out in their final game of the season to manage a point against Gamtel on Sunday at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Both teams displayed good football especially in the first half of the game. But it took Gamtel thirteen minutes into the first half to open the scores courtesy of Matarr Sarr after slashing through Wallidan’s wobbly defense line to put his side ahead.

Meanwhile, Wallidan fought hard for an equalizer and  the blue boys were rewarded in the 38 minutes  after Gamtel’s custodian Adama Sillah brought down Wallidan player  in the  penalty spot, and team captain George Cole  did not hesitate as he coolly slot pass the Gamtel short stopper.  Gamtel 1 Wallidan 1 it ended in the first half.

Coming into the second half, Wallidan introduced some fresh legs but despite that the blue boys could not make their numerical superiority count. Lamin Sanneh of Gamtel could have doubled the score line for his side in the 74th minute, but his 18 yard strike went off target.

And later in the dying minutes of the game, Modou Lamin Sowe of Wallidan found himself in a one on one situation, but the striker failed to hit the back of the net. Finally it ended Gamtel 1 Wallidan 1.

Gamtel finished the season on 7th position with 27 points whilst Wallidan were  relegated to the second division with 20 points.
