Self Proclaimed Babylon ‘Alkalo’ Denied BailMonday, January 03, 2011 The purported self proclaimed Alkalo of the disputed village of Babylon in Kombo North has been denied bail by Magistrate Kemo Ceesay of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. Mr Lamin Jarjou has been presenting himself as the alkalo of Babylon, his indictment states. He is alleged to have been collecting ground rates and licenses fees, making and uttering false documents with official stamp proposed to be official seal of the alkalo of Babylon. In the absence of a legal representative, he was arraigned Wednesday, but pleaded not guilty. Jarjou pleaded for the court to grant him bail, but the director of public prosecution Richard N Chenge objected to the application because he said the accused may flee. And the presiding Magistrate Ceesay rejected the bail submission. The case resumes January 4, 2011. | Related Topics |
