Senior NIA Officers in Legal Battle

Alhagie Edrissa Jobe, Lamin Darboe and Ebrima Drammeh both senior NIA officers were on Friday 5th November 2010 dragged to the Banjul Magistrates’ Court before Principal Magistrate Emmanuel Nkea on two count charges namely conspiracy and unlawful wounding in contravention of the laws of The Gambia.

According to the charge sheet advanced by the state prosecutors at the AG Chambers on count one, the trio in the month of May 2009 at NIA headquarters in Banjul conspired among themselves to cause injuries to Lamin Kabou and Lamin Sima thereby committing an offence.

Count two stated that the trio in the same month and year at the NIA headquarters with intent, unlawfully wounded Lamin Kabou by beating him with fist blows, electric cables and metals and thereby they committed an offence.

Mean while, all the accused persons strongly denied the charges and were granted bail in the sum of one million dalasis each with two Gambian sureties who must have landed properties within the Greater Banjul Area.

The accused persons were also ordered to deposit their traveling documents to the court.

Lawyer Borry S .Touray stood for the first and second accused persons while Lawyer Mrs. Maroun appeared for the third accused.

Barrister D.O. Kulo director special litigation at AG Chambers stood in for the state.

Hearing continues on November 15th 2010.
