Sey: ‘I’m not happy with the performance of the referees’

The head coach of The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) football club Alagie Sey revealed that he is not happy with the performance of referees during his side’s one nil lost to Wallidan at the Serrekunda East football pitch on Wednesday in the week six fixture of The Gambia Football Association (GFA) league one championship.
“What made me angry was the performance of the referees. They are part of the game but their today’s performance is not up to expectation,” said Sey.
He added that the goal his opponents scored was an off side but the second assistance referee refused to award an off side to them.
Coach Sey however admitted that his side had numerous goal scoring opportunities but due to poor finishing they failed to utilize on them.
“Although we could have been on top earlier on in the first half; my strikers were not concentrating,” he accused.
The forward Kaaba Jobe had six clear cut chances in the first half, and none of his opportunities was productive.
Armed  Forces started the league promisingly following their two nil win over Real De Banjul in their first game and now they failed to collect a point in their last two outings.
 They head promised that they would bounce back in their coming games.
Wallidan in the other hand are struggling to recover as they lost three, drew one and won two games which gave them seven points out of the possible 18 points in six games.
In the other fixtures of week six games, Steve Biko lost 1-3 to the newly promoted team Serrekunda United at the independence stadium. Gamtel played goalless against Samger at Father Gough Sports complex in Manjai, Brikama United also played one all in their home ground against Bakau United, Young Africans lost 1-3 to The Gambia Ports Authority.
