Baobab Charity, a non-profit-making organisation based in Belgium recently donated materials worth over 1000 Euros to Sulayman Junkung General Hospital and the community of Bwiam

The items which included school materials, toys, sports materials, second-hand clothes, wheelchairs, insulin for diabetic patients, among other medical supplies, were facilitated by Zakaria Ceesay, a native of Bwiam, and were handed over to the community through Alkalo Musa Amul Nyassi.

Speaking at the ceremony, Musa Amul Nyassi thanked the organisation through Zakaria Ceesay while imploring other natives of Bwiam to follow the footsteps of Zakaria.

He underscored the significance of the donation, while stressing the importance of strengthening the bond between Baobab charity organisation and the community of Bwiam.

For her part, the head of Baobab Charity organisation, PimAmpe, said that her charity was established a year ago with her friend, Brijitte, who works with the airlines and knew the situation of Gambian communities.

The motive of the support, she said, was to share what they had with the less privileged, and show humanity to the world.

The Village Development Committee secretary, Alagie Camara, said the support would not only help the community of Bwiam, but other people who would be seeking treatment at the hospital.

Sulayman Junkung General Hospital administrator, Ansumana Mendy, on behalf of the CEO, said the hospital was always there to support its community and would always do so. He promised that his staff would make best use of the materials as expected.
