africa » gambia
Tuesday, February 01, 2011
The legal suit filed by one Fakebba Jabang against his former employer Gacem, a cement manufacturing company has been adjourned to February 7, 2011. But in the words of the presiding magistrate, it will be for the very last time.
The chairman of the industrial tribunal magistrate Dago has taken this tough stance in the wake of Gacem’s failure to turn-up on several appointed dates rendering the case stalled.
Fakebba Jabang, a resident of Manjai Kunda is claiming a sum of D500, 000 from his former employers for wrongfully terminating his service in February 2010. He has served the company for almost 18 years; as chief security, production foreman, chief clerk and supervisor respectively, according to the court records.
The chairperson of the Industrial Tribunal Magistrate Dago said the case has unnecessarily been delayed due to the failure of the parties to turn-up without advancing any reason/s.
He has adjourned the case to February 7, as a firm date, noting that he will take decision if the parties fail to turn-up.
