Two Biko Players, Brikama United Supporter Suspended

Steve Biko are affected more in their fight against Brikama United Independence stadium on Friday 30th March 2012, as they have two of their players suspended for two matches by GFA Organising Committee.

The two Biko players suspended for violent conduct are No: 14 Lamin Camara and No: 19 Fabakary Bojang. Alhagie Bojang, a Brikama United supporter is suspended for five years from all football matches played in The Gambia, for intruding into the field of play.

The decision came after the Committee held series of closed-door meetings, investigations and further invited stakeholders from both clubs for interviews relating to the case under investigation. Based on the investigations carried out, the committee has imposed sanctions on two Biko players and Alhagie Bojang, a Brikama United supporter.

The Committee has also endorsed the decision of the Referees Committee’s suspension to Ansu Jaata, who was officiating the game for a period of one year from all local matches and further recommended to extend it to all international matches organised by CAF and FIFA.

The GFA has however, accepted a share of the blame, noting that the absence of security could be attributed to circumstances beyond control.
