Ubs Football Tournament Final Ends In Trouble

Wednesday, July 04, 2012

It was rider unfortunate that the Upper Basic Schools football tournament did not end as expected after the final between Kuntaur and Tallinding ended in chaos.

A goal from Yusupha Juwara and Sainey Keita’s penalty were enough to earn Kuntaur a 2-0 over Tallinding in the final show piece of the UBS football tournament.

Things started going rough when the central referee ‘unprofessionally’ punched Modou Lamin Gibba, a player of Tallinding Upper Basic School after he was sent off for knocking an opponent player.

The game was later stopped for some minutes due to over reaction from the Tallinding bench and fans to the action of the central referee.

Two players from Kuntaur Upper Basic School sustained injures from the incident, as fans and players of Tallinding invaded the field, when Kuntaur players were celebrating their victory.

The Secondary Schools Sports Association (SSSA), will meet on Thursday 5 July to discuss over the matter.
