UDP Propaganda Secretary Off To USWednesday, July 13, 2011 The Propaganda Secretary of the United Democratic Party Momodou Lamin Syngle Nyassi Thursday, July 7 2011 left the Gambia for the USA to meet with the party supporters as well as discuss issues surrounding the preparation ahead of the November 24, 2011 presidential election Mr. Nyassi who is expected to hold series of meetings with supporters in New York, Seattle, Maryland, Washington DC and other cities in a brief interview with The Daily News shortly before his departure said the trip will accord him the opportunity meet with supporters as the Propaganda Secretary to discuss pertinent issues. He said during his visit, he will meet with supporters and other human right groups in the promotion of democracy and the rule of law, saying that there could be no meaningful democracy in today’s world without adherence to fundamental democratic principles. ‘’My trip is indeed a honor to me and the party as I am visiting the USA for the first time and it will Gambians who are also contributing their part in the promotion of democracy in their county despite being in the Diaspora,” he told The Daily News. According to Nyassi, he will also raise fund during his visit in order for the party to prepare more ahead of the November pools. ‘’I will be in the USA for the period of three weeks which will be very vital to both the party and supporters in the USA with who we share a common in our drive to end Jammeh’s rule as the Gambia today is encountering a lot of difficulties in the areas of human right, living condition as price of commodities are skyrocketing, lack of a genuine judiciary system and others,’’ he noted. The Daily News has gathered information from Diaspora Gambians that Nyassi has already held series of meetings in New York and is expected to hold similar ones in other mentioned cities later in the week which many supporters will grace.
